Hispanic education levels in 2014

As a young Latino, I always aspire to do great things. One of those things is by trying to obtain a college education.

I came across an article from back in 2014, about the education process across other Lations/Hispanics. Some of the results I expected and was also impressed by.

Some of the results show that most Hispanics don’t have anything further than a high school diploma, but over the years those results have changed.

In 2o14, most Hispanics have gone the distance to obtain at  least a Bachelor’s Degree.

As the results also show, it’s the female Hispanics that have become the most successful of the genders.

NBA ratings increase as NFL’s decrease

Over the past few seasons, the NBA’s TV ratings are growing exponentially while the NFL is decreasing. Even on big holiday showings.

Christmas Day is a big day for the NBA. When scheduling games, the NBA uses Christmas Day as one of their major platform days to show off some of the biggest games of the season.

According to a few reports, the NBA’s ratings on Christmas Day have increased twenty percent from last year. This year’s NFL primetime showing on Christmas Day decreased from last year’s by nine percent.

A few different factors can be addressed as to why the ratings have changed.

Within the NFL this year, a lot of the political realm was leaked into the broadcasting of games and other headlines. Contrary to popular belief, this didn’t sit well with fans.

In the NBA, while fans weren’t interested in the political campaign, subscriptions for NBA’s League Pass increased as well.

The NBA has become a dominant force in TV with the era of “Super Teams.” Having guys like Kevin, Durant, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson playing on the same team can definitely help the cause.

How soon will it be before the NFL makes the comeback fans are looking for? Or is this the NBA’s time to shine?

Crossing the Line

This past weekend during the NBA All-Star game, new broke out about LeBron James and Fox News political analyst, Laura Ingraham having a very heated disputed over President Trump.

NPR had a strong lede that helped describe what had happened over the weekend.

“Journalist Laura Ingraham sought to rebuke the Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James for “talking politics” during a recent interview — something the Fox News host believes is out of bounds for an athlete”.

The lede gets straight to the point and briefly describes the situation. The main headline also draws you in by giving Ingraham’s opinion on James’ thoughts.

With this being one of the most talked about stories over the weekend, it was a very quick google result that contained many images.

E! News presents The Rundown

Back in September of 2017, E! News decided to launch a new show called The Rundown. It airs on Snapchat in the discover section.

The idea is to break down all the major pop culture stories, while having fun with it with the host. So far it’s gotten positive reviews.

The show has worked due to the idea of getting all your major stories broken down in five minutes. Plus it’s on the go and can be watched anytime.

Now E! has decided to move the show to a bi-weekly segment. E! states its due to the success of the show, but does that really make sense?

The Age of Walls

Change is on the horizon, we all know this. The question is, in what way?

One of the many things that has become a topic of conversation over the last year is the building of a wall on the US and Mexico border.

The Washington Post had a documentary about how borders are rising all over the world, not just here in America. There were different reasons as to why these walls were built.

The most common reason was “security”. Security is a very iffy term these days due to who or what needs to be secured.

In the third part of this series, is when it starts to hit home. The Washington Post begins to discuss what could happen if the wall that President Trump preached about came to fruition.

In a nutshell, farming lands could be affected and other business may begin to suffer as well.

One of the common reasons that was portrayed in this piece was “bettering themselves” in regards as to why immigration is taking place.

I think we can all agree that somewhere our families history that someone wanted to do better for their future. So why should we deny that from anyone else.

I truly hope we as Americans can do better and truly be the better people as a nation.
