Multimedia shedding a new light!

Multimedia gives a new take on storytelling for blogs!

Multimedia is such a great and powerful way to showcase various things happening around the world. The good thing about multimedia, is that is very lucrative and has a  plethora of platforms that can be used. One of those plat forms are videos; some of which can be used to showcase the new things that are going on the world today.

One of the things that is constantly changing is the tech world . All of the new technological advancements that are happening at such a rapid pace , should be greatly showcased; so the article called ” The Robot Revolution: The New Age of Manufacturing – Moving Upstream” did.

This video initially grabs my attention by first , talking about topics that are new and constantly changing. The visuals that they have behind it showcasing what is actually going on in the robotic realm are amazing. I believe that actually narrators of the video give a good insight as to how this situation is prevalent to day, how it benefits people, and how it benefits the use of mankind. The video gives us relevance, location, and who is all involved.

The “Lede”, that is leading the way!

What Lede  catches your eye?

We all know how important ledes are , and how they play such an important role to catch the readers eye. There is one however, that had caught my eye. There is a story concerning money, and well all know when money is involved , it trumps everything else. This particular lede is called , ” 3M is paying $850 million to end a years-long lawsuit claiming it contaminated water in its home state of Minnesota.

pexels-photo-210748.jpegI would have to say that this lede gives us a very sufficient amount of information that would be needed. In such a small statement , it entails who it involves, what is going on , a time line of some sort , and where the situation took place. I believe that they give great details even later in the story , and that the lede gave the reader( me ) enough information to know what the story was going to be mostly about.

The story did not have any pictures on the actual blog, however, with the original story coming from CNN, it does give a strange sense of credibility. When I looked the lede up in several search engines, still no images appear.

All in all , I believe that this lede is a great one because it gives the reader a lot of valid information that they will know what to expect before indulging into he actual story.

Tuition costs in Michigan

It is always interesting when comparing college cost because they are always on the rise. The prices can change year to year and they are only going up!

We are going to compare sixteen 4-year universities in Michigan. The total cost of a year in college can range from $15,419.36 to $25,204.00 in 2017.

The University of Michigan -Dearborn cost is lowest in-state cost with your total cost being $15,419.36. The room and board are the lowest at U-M Dearborn, at $1,600.00! However, if you want to live in Ann Arbor you are going to pay the most at $9,468.00.

The cost of college can be very overwhelming, but don’t be scared of student debt. There are many ways that can cut the cost. There are scholarships, grants, and final aid is available for those students who qualify. I currently do not pay for room and board. I commute to and from school, so that also saves me money. Don’t be afraid of students debt. You can’t put a price tag on education!

African American Graduation Rates in the Country

Picture sourced from The Washtenaw Voice.

Education has been expanding and accepting more as the years go by. However, students of color, specifically African American students, are not always provided with the best resources or skills needed in order to succeed in college.

A data table that looks at racial groups comparing the percentages of total number of students graduating to African Americans graduating is tremendously different. By searching through this, it appears that graduation rates remain in the high 50s, never exceeding the high 80s percentile.

When comparing the total graduation rates of college students to African American students, it is clear to see that many of these students are not doing as well as they could be. In Nevada, graduation rates of African American students are at a low of 43%. Many states report numbers in the 50s through 70s.

Some data is not collected for some of these states, but it is not necessarily needed if someone wants to look at the data from within a state.

This gap between education could be fixed in many different ways, but the problem has to be found before action can take place. It will also take a lot of time since this has been a problem for many years.
