Looking for a job can be very stressful even for people that do have degrees and great experience on their resume. Linkedin is great social media platform for people to upload everything about themselves and to interact with people to find the job that best fits them.

The virtual professional network allows people to upload their resume, education, volunteer experience, skills, accomplishments, and interests. That way while you are looking for a job, people can view your profile and contact you if they are interested in you for a job. You could pick and choose whom you connect with, and also connect with the people you have things in common with.

Over the years Linkedin has become an essential personal branding tool. Its the ultimate personal platform to give you the best opportunities to increase your visibility to people and the community around you.

Comparing school tuition data

There were many things that I found interesting in the comparative report while doing the school tuition data exercise. Before I started college in 2013 I haven’t looked into college’s tuition cost and ratings. I just wanted to go to a 4-year university that was close to home. Now five years later I now know how important it is to look into the college you want to go to and compare it to others.

Looking at the comparison chart, I noticed there were quite a bit differences between the 4-year colleges in Michigan that I personally did not know about. I noticed how there is a big tuition difference between Kendal College of Art and Design of Ferris State University and Saginaw Valley State University. Kendal College of Art and Design’s tuition and fees cost about $15,000 and Saginaw cost about $8,000 that’s about a 50% difference and I found that to be very surprising.  I never knew before looking at this data chart what a big difference the cost of college would be. I have always assumed four-year Universities would be near the same price.

Something else I noticed on the data chart was Northern Michigan University full-time students get a ThinkPad notebook. That is very reasonable for a student paying about $8,000 in tuitions. I personally think that is a good idea when paying so much for tuitions, some students might not have that extra money to buy any electronics for school because tuition rates are very high.

Comparing schools on a chart like this made me realize how important it is compared colleges before choosing the right one. From now on I would advise any highs school students that have questions about the college to look into something like this.

SnapChat supports news organizations

Social media has become a very large part of people’s lives. Newspaper sales are decreasing every year, But news agencies that utilize social media has given them a bigger platform. SnapChat  has become one of apps increasingly used.

One of the most used news organizations on SnapChat is DailyMail. It’s a British tabloid newspaper published in London. It’s the United Kingdom’s second- biggest selling daily newspaper.

Daily Mail has a section on the SnapChat where they have plenty of news resources. Daily Mail upload mail that happens daily from celebrities, murders, viral videos and random stories. Every day is a new news story.

One Daily Mail news that has happened today (Monday, January 29) was a story about Jay-Z and Beyonce “WE FOUGHT FOR OUR LOVE”.  Daily Mail put up the interview Jay-Z had with CNN talking about how hard he tried to save his marriage. He spoke out about cheating on his wife and going through some big challenges with her.

MLive database: A place to find salaries near you

Many people look into salaries when looking for a  job or picking a career to choose in college. MLive database of state employee salaries is a great data set to look at when gathering information about all of the salaries for state of Michigan employees.

This database provides all the  information you would need when looking into salaries, and  the database narrows it down to only Michigan. It’s better then giving you an average salary in general.

MLive is based on salaries in Michigan but does not include any other benefits. This website is made very simple for people to use. All you have to do is type in a name and click the employee you are looking for or you could simply click on the job title you want and it will show you the amount that position makes.

 

Zeega is a tool I would like to try

The ten tools to learn article was very interesting to me, they talked about literally ten tools that I have not learned about. While I was exploring through the tools one of them stood out to me and I found it very interesting. Zeega  its a website where you can make videos such as documentaries on whatever you would like.

With these videos that you make you could make cool sounds, videos, and pictures. You could also add text to go along with them. It’s an easy way to interact with other people’s stories as well as sharing your own.

When you first go on the website you could automatically look at the different videos that people share and the different videos they talk about. Zeega makes putting together and sharing it with people from all over the world very easy, and is great for teachers to use this site for their own classroom, I might just make one myself. Its definitely a site worth using.
